SOS BEEKEEPING PROJECT
SwaziBank donated
E52, 270.00 towards a beekeeping project at Maseyisini
in the outskirts of Nhlangano during the 2008/2009
financial year.
The donation will
help in the provision of resources and training of 10
participants from the outreach programme of the area.
The participants
were carefully selected by the SOS Children’s Village
Family Strengthening Programme coordinators with the
assistance of their field officers.
The training
process, which started in August 2008, is conducted by
Sunnyside Honey Bee Products, a non-profit organization
based in Nhlangano.
At the end of the
course, each participant will have built a beehive and
trap door, and acquired the skills and knowledge to
handle this equipment.
The training process
also ensures that each participant is able to
successfully run a beekeeping business, hence creating
employment opportunities for the community of Maseyisini. |
